What was the inspiration behind your Dockatot designs?
Oh Joy! is always about bringing joy and whimsy to every day, so we wanted to make these pieces feel like a fun (yet useful) addition to your home and to your life with a new baby.
Why were you excited to collaborate with dockatot?
As a mother of two, I'm always in search of pieces that make those early newborn days easier and more comfortable for the whole family. I love the coziness that DockATot provides, and together we’re bringing you their quality and comfort with our signature whimsical colors and prints. They make a functional and beautiful addition to your new baby’s home. See the collection now!
Were you a Dockatot fan before this collaboration? Why?
I didn’t find out about DockATot until my kids were too big for them, but I know that I would have loved this piece when they were babies!
When you first started your blog, did you ever think it was going to become such a huge success?
Ha, thank you. But I definitely had no idea that it would turn into a big part of my business. I started my blog in 2005 when there weren’t many blogs and therefore no one knew the potential of those early social media days.
How do you find balance while being a mom and running a business?
There is no such thing as balance. It’s really a JUGGLE trying to keep it all together. But asking for help is key. Whether that means from your partner, having help with childcare, or making sure you find great people to help you grow your company.
Words of wisdom for new moms who are feeling overwhelmed and sleep deprived?
You WILL get through it and become stronger because of it. There are seasons in every phase of life and while they may seem hard and never-ending, those struggles are what teach us how we want to approach our new phase of life and make us better and stronger.
If you could tell your 20 year old self something, what would it be?
Don’t worry about what other people think of you. It matters what you think of yourself.
Favorite go to mom look?
A flowy skirt or dress (with pockets)!
Best advice you've ever been given?
You be you.
