Our partnership with CoppaFeel!
Becoming a mum is one of life’s greatest gifts—it can also be extremely challenging. We are partnering with CoppaFeel!, the UK-based breast cancer awareness charity, to help educate all new and expecting mums on the importance of breast health during this most hectic phase of life. When you’re a new mum, your own breast health may not be top of mind. Our goal is to change that mindset.
Prioritising your own health and knowing what to look out for is critical when it comes to early detection of breast cancer. As part of this partnership, we have interviewed four new mums who are dealing with the unimaginable. All hailing from different parts of the UK, Laura, Lizzi, Alice and Roisin were diagnosed with breast cancer amidst the joy of motherhood and we hope that their stories will inspire you to stay on top of your own health.
While rare, breast cancer affects roughly 1 in 3000 pregnant women impacting around 250 families in the UK every year. It is as essential as ever to be breast aware when you’re a new mum. What’s more, new and expectant mothers are twice as likely to be diagnosed at stage 4 than any other demographic.
The body goes through many changes during pregnancy and birth, and while most of these changes are completely normal, it’s important to recognise the red flags within being one year postpartum.
Your baby needs you to be a strong and healthy mama. With the help of CoppaFeel!, we are providing the tools you need to stay on top of your health. Getting to know your body by checking regularly and contacting your General Practitioner if you spot any concerning changes, is key to ensuring breast cancer is detected early, when it is more treatable and survivable.
